Hiii… this is not quite the interval that I wanted to be posting here at, but It Is What It Is. There’s a lot i want to write about, but I have to limit my scope so that i actually press publish on this thing, lol…

something ive been looking fwd to talking about a little bit is fragrances… <:) i dont have a particularly keen sense of smell, in fact i think it’s kind of below average if anything. despite that, i think they’re a lot of fun to explore. my most recent venture into fragrance was via luckyscent’s “fragrance fitting”. you give them a description of what you’re looking for, or yourself, or whatever you’d like to embody and they put together a set of samples. it’s fun! if you have the cash, it is a nice treat. i mentioned in my order that two of my favorite scents are Arsenic by tokyomilk and Dirty by lush. Arsenic smells (to me) a little bit like rootbeer, lol…? but not sweet. it’s got vanilla, fennel, green… dirty has a minty, aromatic note to it that seems to be somewhat controversial but that i enjoy. it also has that somewhat vague/abstract green note. the samples i received leaned green, vanilla, and aromatic. unsurprising given the examples i gave. btw, in this context green = grassy, plant-y, aromatic = herby, spicy (but NOT cinnamon spicy…)

i liked all of them, but two of them stood out. they were oriza l. legrand’s relique d’amour and universal flowering’s death of a ladies man.

death of a ladies man smells like crunchy, frost-covered grass in spring/fall. a brisk morning. immediately after spraying it is so green as to be bitter and vegetal, but this is quickly replaced by a violet/powdery/sweet scent that is very soft. it’s kind of an odd smell, i didn’t think it was pleasant upon first sniff. but after i sat with it more i came to like it a lot.

relique d’amour makes me sad because i love the smell of it soo much but it is vanishingly short lived…!! the note from the brand is nice, so i’ll paste it here:

“The smell of an old chapel of Cistercian abbey. Cold stone walls covered with damp moss. Waxed wood of altar and old pews ornate with carvings. Linseed oil in lamps. Incense and myrrh discernible in the air. But how fresh and spicy the smell of white royal lilies on this background! Subtle floral scent with green accents of leaves and powdery touches of yellow pollen. The beam of light breaks through the stained glass and illuminates this olfactory tumult of feelings varying from exaltation to humility and back. The silence which creates a sense of the divine call.”

to me it kind of smells like firelink shrine dark souls 1. mossy, old stone… but also very wet. just suuuch a bummer that it doesn’t last. :pensive:

there is new art in the gallery…! i’ve also been working on getting something else added to the site… i meant for it to be a quick addition since it’s a rework of old content, but um well i’m stupid so it’s taking forever. working on a couple of 3d models right now, there are some screenshots in the gallery now. lots of the new art is ts/ar related. i’ve been thinking about it a lot recently because i am playing with some friends. 🙂 lots of ideas for website content related to that story… in the meantime here’s the playlist… offline i’ve been quite busy. saw magdelena bay recently. i’m definitely more of a fan after seeing them live, which i think is the ideal concert experience (was kind of Eh going into it). Um Yea like i said lots i wanted to talk about so maybe that will motivate me to post again sooner.
